We’re guessing that if you’ve found LAWLESS, chances are you’re looking to make a switch from conventional makeup products to products that are fabulous but still good for you. Little by little, we’ve been educated in recent years about the benefits of organic food, non-toxic cleaning products, juice cleanses, detoxes, you name it. Something that gets a lot less attention is the toxicity of makeup.

The lack of coverage about making the switch to clean makeup seems crazy to us, because we literally slather makeup all over our skin, not to mention on our mouth. You may have heard the wild stories on the internet about how many pounds of lipstick a woman consumes over her lifetime. We’re not sure how legit those stories are, but one thing is surely true: your lips are constantly in contact with the products you’re using, and those ingredients find their way into your body, whether it’s from being absorbed during daily use, or accidentally consumed along with that double shot of espresso.
1. Clean Lipstick is an Easy Switch to Make
What part of your body gets more access to toxic products than your face!?! But if you’re finding it hard to make the switch, we feel you. Makeup is a highly personal ritual. Chances are, even if you like to experiment with your look, you have a couple of products that you’ve been using for years; products that make you feel beautiful, and who wants to give that up? It can be hard to change your routine or give up products that are meaningful to you.
So, start small. Or big, as it were. Your lips probably absorb more makeup than the rest of your face, but it may feel easier to experiment with a new lip color than with the foundation you’ve been using for years. If you’ve been thinking of replacing your conventional makeup products with clean products, starting with your lipstick is a great first step that will put you on the path to cleaner living without feeling too overwhelming.
2. Clean Lipstick is Fabulous Too!
When you think of clean lipstick, you may be picturing tubes of nude, beeswax-heavy balms and wondering how you can switch from your favorite colorful matte to that. Guess what? You don’t have to! Part of why we created LAWLESS is because we didn’t want to have to choose between health and beauty. Our clean liquid lipstick comes in colors ranging from light nudes to rich berry and deep vampy red. You don’t have to choose anymore between using products that are good for you, and products that make you feel good. It is totally possible to be healthy and fabulous at the same time!
3. Your Lips Absorb Everything
Have you ever heard the saying “you are what you eat”? Well, while the amount might be debatable, one thing is for sure: you eat your lipstick. And conventional lipstick contains known endocrine disruptors such as parabens, phthalates (in products containing fragrance), pesticides, and toxic chemicals like lead and petroleum. Since your lips have thinner tissue than the rest of your body, they absorb things much more quickly, and that includes all of the nastiness that’s found in many conventional lipsticks.
4. The Ingredients in Clean Liquid Lipstick Actually Nourish Your Lips
What clean liquid lipstick lacks in harmful fragrances and toxic chemicals, it makes up for in skin-nourishing botanicals and moisturizing emollients. Your lips will thank you for making the switch to clean products. Not only are there fantastic products to choose from when you switch to clean makeup, but the effect of all of the nourishing ingredients on your lips and skin will be a difference you can see. The whole point of makeup is to put our best self forward, so why not nourish your body while you beautify it?
